Sam Porter Bridges is the main character of Death Stranding.

He’s often seen carrying a “Bridge Baby” which exists inside a pod.

These Bridge Babies allow people to “plug into the other side” and temporarily see BTs. BTs are ghost-like enemies.

That can drag people through the ground to new locations or perhaps a different time entirely.

BTs seem to want their host alive, as they abandon the unnamed man Sam is with after he shoots him.
